About CrossRupee

CrossRupee is a money guide for Indians who live and work abroad. We publish the numbers an Indian expat actually needs — what it costs to send money home, what jobs pay, what rent, school fees and daily life cost — checked against published sources and converted into rupees and the local currency side by side.

Who this site is for

CrossRupee is written for Indian citizens working outside India, and for families in India who plan around money earned abroad. Our first section covers the United Arab Emirates, home to one of the largest Indian workforces in the world. Readers in other countries will find the same structure here as we expand.

What we publish

  • Remittance comparisons — how much money actually reaches India through different providers, compared on the same fixed amounts.
  • Salaries — what common jobs pay, with the role, place, seniority, source and date attached to every figure.
  • Cost of living — rent, utilities, transport, food and other monthly costs, area by area.
  • Gold and daily rates — the daily Dubai gold rate and the dirham–rupee reference rate, updated on a fixed schedule.
  • Banking explained — factual explainers on NRE and NRO accounts and the rules around them, in plain language.
  • Gratuity and work benefits — how end-of-service benefits are calculated, including a calculator built on the published formula.
  • Family costs — school fees and mandatory health insurance costs for families.

How we gather and check these numbers is described on our Methodology & Data Sources page.

What we never do

CrossRupee publishes data, costs, comparisons and factual explainers. We do not give personal financial advice, tax advice, visa or immigration advice, or property-buying advice, and nothing on this site should be read as a recommendation for your own situation. Where a decision depends on your circumstances, we say what the published rules and prices are — and leave the decision to you, with a licensed professional if you need one. Our Finance Disclaimer sets this out in full.

Where we are headed

The site grows in phases on this one domain. The UAE section is first. A United Kingdom section and an Australia section follow, using the same categories and the same methods, so a reader moving between countries finds the same kind of page in the same place.

Who runs CrossRupee

CrossRupee is an independent publication run by Sahinul Islam Laskar. It is an editorial project, not a bank, exchange house, consultancy or government body, and it is not affiliated with any provider we write about.

How we make money

Reading CrossRupee is free. The site is supported by advertising and by affiliate commissions: when a reader follows a link from this site to a provider and signs up or transacts, the provider may pay us a commission. That commission never changes the price you pay, and it never changes our rankings — our comparisons are ranked by the numbers we publish, as our methodology page explains. Where a page carries an affiliate link, that relationship is disclosed on the page.
