Privacy Policy

CrossRupee is a free information site. We collect as little about our readers as we can, we never sell personal data, and this page explains in plain language what information exists when you use the site, and why.

What is collected when you visit

  • Server logs. Like almost every website, our hosting server automatically records standard technical details of each visit — the page requested, the time, your browser type and your IP address. These logs are used to keep the site running, secure it against abuse, and understand which pages are read.
  • Cookies. The site itself sets the standard cookies its publishing software needs to function. If we use advertising or analytics, those services may set their own cookies, as described below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site’s articles remain readable without them.
  • Analytics. We may use privacy-respecting analytics to count visits and see which pages help readers most. We use such counts to decide what to write and fix — not to build profiles of individual readers.

What you send us

If you email us — for example with a correction, a question or a suggestion — we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use it only to reply and to act on what you sent (for example, checking and logging a correction). We do not add you to a marketing list because you wrote to us.

Affiliate links and third-party sites

Some links on CrossRupee are affiliate links. When you follow one, the provider’s website may set a cookie or use a similar identifier so the provider can attribute a signup or transaction to this site and pay us a commission. From that point, your use of the provider’s site is governed by that provider’s own privacy policy, not this one. We do not receive your bank details, transaction details or passwords from any provider.

If advertising is displayed on the site, it is served by third-party advertising providers, which may use cookies to measure and, where you have consented through your own settings, personalise ads. Their handling of data is described in their own privacy policies.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data to anyone. We do not run accounts or logins for readers, and we do not ask readers for financial information of any kind. Never send us your bank details, card numbers, passwords or one-time codes — we will never ask for them.

How long information is kept

Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and operations, then deleted or anonymised. Emails are kept as long as needed to handle the matter you wrote about and to keep an accurate corrections record.

Your choices and questions

You can read CrossRupee without creating an account and without accepting non-essential cookies. If you have a question about this policy, or want to know what personal information of yours we hold (for most readers, that is nothing beyond an email you sent us), write to us via the Contact page and we will reply.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters — for example, if we adopt a new analytics or advertising service — we will update this page and note the change on our Corrections & Update Log. This policy was last updated on 7 November 2026.
