1 AED = ₹25.63Reference rateUpdated 7 Nov 2026, 22:58 GST
The short answer: a licensed nurse in the UAE most commonly lands between AED 4,500 and AED 9,000 a month in real, reported pay — while recruitment advertising for DHA and DOH hospital posts quotes AED 6,000 to AED 18,000, and senior specialists are advertised higher still. Both sets of numbers are real; they describe different things. This page keeps them apart, by licence, by emirate and by workplace, with every figure sourced and dated. For context on what that pay has to cover, see the cost of living in Dubai for Indians and how nurse pay compares with the average salary in Dubai.

Salary pages for UAE nursing disagree wildly because they mix two different datasets. Advertised pay is what job ads and recruitment agencies quote to attract licensed candidates — it skews to large hospitals and often describes the total package. Reported pay is what salary platforms collect from employees and job postings across every employer, including small clinics — it skews lower and usually describes base salary. Neither is “wrong”; averaging them together, as many guides do, produces a number that describes nobody. Every table below is labelled as one or the other. Figures were collected on 8 November 2026.
Reported pay: what salary platforms record
| Source (reported) | Figure | What it covers | Collected |
|---|---|---|---|
| Indeed, Dubai — “nurse” | Average AED 5,078/month; typical range AED 2,545–10,130 | 441 salaries from postings and reports, Dubai, all settings | Updated 28 Oct 2026 |
| Indeed, Dubai — “registered nurse” | Average AED 2,790/month | About 1,000 salaries; skewed low by part-time and clinic posts | Updated 2 Nov 2026 |
| Indeed, UAE-wide — “nurse” | Median AED 5,404/month | Self-reported, all seven emirates | Checked 8 Nov 2026 |
| GulfTalent, UAE — “nurse” | Median AED 3,500/month; staff nurse AED 7,500 | Small sample (49 people) | Checked 8 Nov 2026 |
| PayScale — registered nurse at Dubai Health Authority | AED 108,000/year, i.e. AED 9,000/month | One large government employer, licensed and experienced staff | Checked 8 Nov 2026 |
Read together, reported data puts the working middle of UAE nursing pay at roughly AED 3,500–5,400 a month for base salary across all employers, rising to about AED 9,000 a month inside a large government employer. In rupee terms, the Indeed Dubai average looks like this: AED 5,078 (≈ ₹1,30,200).
Advertised pay: what recruiters and job ads quote
| Experience band (advertised) | DHA — Dubai | DOH — Abu Dhabi | MOHAP — Northern emirates |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entry (0–2 years, newly licensed) | AED 6,000–8,000 | AED 6,000–8,000 | AED 5,000–7,000 |
| Mid-career (3–6 years) | AED 9,000–14,000 | AED 9,000–14,000 | AED 7,000–10,000 |
| Senior / specialist (ICU, ER, OT, NICU) | AED 14,000–25,000 | AED 14,000–25,000 | AED 10,000–14,000 |
These bands are drawn from recruitment and licensing-guide ranges published in 2026 (MyTestSeries, August 2026; Neelim; GulfWorkforce), which quote DHA-licensed nurses at AED 7,000–18,000 overall. A second advertised dataset sits lower: a listings-based guide updated 18 October 2026 (SteadStaff) found staff-nurse postings clustered at AED 4,500–5,000 and DHA/DOH-licensed postings at AED 5,000–6,000 — a reminder that “advertised” itself splits between agency marketing bands and actual live postings. Claims above AED 20,000 could not be verified against any employer-published source in this check and are best treated as top-of-funnel recruitment figures until seen in a written offer.
Pay by workplace setting
Hospitals
Large private and government hospitals pay the top of the market. Government hospital packages are reported at AED 10,000–18,000 a month in total (GulfWorkforce, 2026), and private-hospital registered nurses at AED 5,000–9,000 with ICU, ER and operating-theatre specialists at AED 7,000–12,000 (hospital-jobs guide data, 2026). PayScale’s AED 9,000 a month for a Dubai Health Authority registered nurse sits squarely in this hospital band.
Clinics and polyclinics
Clinic roles pull the reported averages down: they dominate the lower half of Indeed’s Dubai range (from AED 2,545) and most listings-based staff-nurse postings at AED 4,500–5,500. Clinic packages also less often include accommodation.
Home care
Home-care nurses are reported in secondary salary summaries at roughly AED 5,000–9,000 a month, between clinic and hospital pay, with hours and live-in arrangements varying widely by agency — the least standardised segment of the three, and the one where the written contract matters most.
Allowances: what is inside the figure and what is not
This is the single biggest source of confusion in UAE nurse pay. Hospital packages commonly bundle housing or a housing allowance, transport, an annual flight home and medical insurance on top of base salary — recruitment sources describe the total package as typically 25–40% above basic pay. Salary-platform figures (Indeed, GulfTalent) are generally base salary only. So a hospital offer advertised at AED 12,000 (≈ ₹3,07,600) as a total package and a reported base of AED 9,000 can be the same job described two ways. Where a figure on this page comes from a recruiter band, assume package; where it comes from a salary platform, assume base. The UAE levies no personal income tax, so gross and net pay are the same before any voluntary deductions. End-of-service gratuity accrues on top of salary — the gratuity calculator shows what that adds up to over a contract.
The three licences, factually
Nursing practice in the UAE is licensed by emirate group, and the licence held is the strongest single predictor of which pay band applies. DHA (Dubai Health Authority) licenses Dubai: the route involves primary-source verification of credentials through DataFlow, an eligibility process via the Sheryan portal and, unless exempt, a Prometric computer-based exam. DOH (Department of Health Abu Dhabi) licenses Abu Dhabi through its own exam and verification route. MOHAP (Ministry of Health and Prevention) licenses the northern emirates — Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. A licence from one authority does not automatically transfer to another emirate; moving from Dubai to Abu Dhabi means a new licensing process. The Unified Healthcare Professional Qualification Requirements, published jointly by MOHAP, DOH, DHA and Sharjah Health Authority, set the shared baseline for nursing titles and experience.
Frequently asked questions
What is a nurse’s salary in Dubai per month?
Reported data centres on AED 5,078 a month on average in Dubai (Indeed, 441 salaries, updated 28 October 2026), while advertised hospital posts for licensed nurses quote AED 6,000–14,000 depending on experience.
Do UAE nurses get housing on top of salary?
Hospital packages commonly include housing or a housing allowance, transport, an annual flight and medical insurance; clinic packages less often. Recruiter “total package” figures include these; salary-platform figures usually do not.
Which emirate pays nurses the most?
Dubai (DHA) and Abu Dhabi (DOH) advertise in the same top band; the northern emirates (MOHAP) advertise lower, roughly AED 5,000–14,000 across experience bands.
Is nurse pay in the UAE tax-free?
The UAE charges no personal income tax, so the salary figures on this page are not reduced by income tax.
Why do websites quote such different nurse salaries?
Because some quote advertised recruiter bands (often total package, large hospitals) and others quote reported base salaries across all employers. This page labels the two separately throughout.
