Gold price by weight — in dirhams and rupees
Most Dubai jewellery is priced by the gram, so multiply the per-gram board rate by the weight of the piece. The tables below do that for the weights buyers ask about most — 1, 8, 10 and 100 grams — in AED first, then converted to rupees at this site’s reference rate.

Reading a jeweller’s quote? Put the piece’s weight and karat in, add the making charges you were quoted, and the calculator builds the bill the way a Dubai invoice does — metal value first, then making charges, then VAT — at today’s DJG board rate.

How it is worked out: gold value = weight × the DJG board rate for the karat. Making charges are the jeweller's own — enter the percentage quoted for the piece, or leave it at 0. VAT: gold jewellery carries 5% VAT on the gold value plus making charges, while investment-grade gold (99% purity and above) is zero-rated, so coins and bars of that purity carry no VAT. This is an estimate — the final bill depends on the piece and the jeweller.
Treat the result as an estimate: the final bill varies with the design of the piece and the making charges agreed with the jeweller. The section further down — what you actually pay at a Dubai jeweller — explains each part of the bill.

Dubai gold rate — last 10 days
The board moves with the international gold price: the DJG rate is set from the London spot price in US dollars, converted at the dirham’s fixed peg of AED 3.6725 to the dollar. That is why the Dubai board can change during the day on a volatile day — and why we re-check it every 30 minutes.

What you actually pay at a Dubai jeweller
The board rate is the value of the metal in the piece, for that purity — it is not the final bill. A jeweller adds making charges for the work in the piece, quoted per gram or per piece and varying with the design; plain pieces carry lower making charges than intricate ones. On tax: investment-grade gold (99% purity and above) is zero-rated for VAT in the UAE, while gold jewellery carries 5% VAT — so the tax on a 24K bar and a 22K necklace is not the same thing. Ask for the bill split into metal value, making charges and VAT before you pay; a proper Dubai invoice shows all three.
The “international spot” line under the board is a different number: the raw market price of gold, converted per gram. We show it labelled indicative so you can see how close the retail board sits to the market — the two are never mixed on this page.
Dubai vs India: is gold cheaper here?
For the metal alone, Dubai usually works out cheaper than India, because an Indian retail price carries import duty and GST on top of the same international price, while Dubai’s board tracks it closely. How big the gap is today — and what customs allows you to carry home — is worked out with live figures in our comparison: Dubai gold rate in INR: the full Dubai vs India comparison. Frequently asked questions
What is the gold rate in Dubai today for 22K?
It is the 22K row of the DJG board at the top of this page, in AED per gram, with the time it was last checked. The same table shows 24K, 21K, 18K and 14K.
Is gold cheaper in Dubai than in India?
Usually, yes for the metal itself: both markets start from the same international price, but Indian retail prices add import duty and GST, and Dubai adds neither to the board rate. Making charges and VAT on jewellery narrow the gap, so compare the full bill, not just the per-gram rate.
What are making charges?
The jeweller’s charge for turning metal into a finished piece — labour and design. It is quoted separately from the metal value, varies widely with how intricate the piece is, and is the part of the bill where shops differ most. It is not set by the DJG.
How do I calculate the price of gold jewellery in Dubai?
Multiply the weight of the piece in grams by the board rate for its karat, add the jeweller’s making charges, then add 5% VAT on that combined amount — that total is the full bill for jewellery. The calculator on this page does the arithmetic for you at today’s board rate.
How often is this page updated?
We check the DJG board every 30 minutes, Dubai time, and the board card shows the exact time of the last check. Rupee figures re-convert automatically whenever this site’s AED to INR reference rate refreshes.
What is the difference between the DJG retail rate and the spot price?
The spot price is the international wholesale market price of raw gold, traded in US dollars per troy ounce. The DJG board is the retail jewellery rate Dubai shops display, derived from that spot price at the fixed dollar peg. The spot line on this page is marked “indicative” — you buy jewellery at the board rate, not at spot.
